Somewhere in the growing up process, I lost who I was. I lost my fierce resilience and sense of adventure. What remained was a shell of my former self, my smile only an elaborate facade.
Luckily for me, my dark path lead to meeting many amazing people. These people slowly helped me find lost parts of myself or introduced me to new adventures that would become part of my new self. A component of this process was recognizing my worth without anyone else's approval and setting goals for my big, badass dreams.
Goals are more than a list or a process, they are a way of thinking, an attitude to keep my 'muchness' in tact, especially during trials.
Let me break down what a G-O-A-L is for me:
G - Gumption:
If you are embarking on the big dreams within you, you will need 'spirited initiative and resourcefullness.' This is no time for pride, start asking for help or favors from people you know. Get a side job if you need money to fund a project. You have to have a real 'want to!'
O - Objectivity:
You need to focus on facts and have the ability to observe your own behaviors during your creative process. Habits are hard to break, but along the way to your dreams you may have to give up other items in your life (remember my #sober2017).
A - Association:
Place yourself in the realm of your dream. Network with others in or working toward a similar goal. Make time for mentoring, learning, and trying. Have peers to discuss failures with and collect ideas.
L - Loyal Passion
Times will get hard and you will need to continuously rekindle loyalty to your passion. The passion will drive you, but loyalty to that passion will help you work through the ruts.
May your path to your goals be clear for 2018!
